FHS: the table turner turned

Readers might be familiar with this blog’s position on intellectual property. Although we indirectly encourage the re-use of registered designs that have fallen into public domain, we strongly dissaprove of infringements of existing and alive intellectual property. A lengthy article in French explains how the brands, who claim to be victims of counterfeiting, have somehow contributed to the phenomenon: when [...]

unusable bezel from Eberhard

I normally don’t go bashing on watch companies, but Eberhard is really getting on my nerves with their latest release: the Tazio Nuvolari Grand Prix, which is a watch designed by dabblers for dabblers. One would think that by now Eberhard would have known better and got rid of their stupid double tachymeter scale but no, they keep [...]

introducing: BOTTA Design

In operation since 1987, the BOTTA design studio received numerous awards for their work. Having worked for clients like Junghans, Bestform and Watch People, BOTTA Design took over the sales of their watch collections in 2000 and started selling them under the brand “BOTTA Design” in 2006. The studio has recently introduced a new variant of their Tres [...]

Turmoil for Corvus Watch co-founder

Watchprojects.com published several entries about the Corvus Watch Company, created by the brothers Cameron. I read yesterday on the blog I Already Have a Watch that Corvus co-founder James M. Cameron, has been tried throughout late August 2010 for accusations of child pornography. The blog Bad Lawyer seems to be one of those with a detailed account of the prosecution [...]

introducing: Osirec

Hat tip to Ariel Adams, columnist for Luxist.com. Having been bit by the fascination of their late father for Ancient Egypt, businessman Thierry Peter Savineau and brother Pascal started working in 2002 on a watch brand that would tap into Ancient Egypt’s esthetic and geometric riches. The brand OSIREC was successfully registered in the USA in September 2009 and in the European [...]

Starting at GBP 100.00, the 100 series is a unisex and functional collection designed in the purest minimalist Anglo-Saxon design tradition, very much like the national industrial clocks which it [...]

introducing: Huguenin

Hat tip to Jason Heaton of Hodinkee.com. There is an extensive lineage of the Huguenin name in the history of Swiss watchmaking, which probably explains why the trade mark registration appears twice in Switzerland: once held by Faude & Huguenin AG and once by Vincent Huguenin. In the US, the mark had previously been registered by [...]
